Timber Lake Tours

Fish for a Legend

Looking down into the start of the many, many snags at Timber Lake.

The snags range from large trees right down to small stands of saplings. These are all ideal places to fish.

Timber Lake is a picturesque 40 acre bushland lake situated in the Otway ranges hinterland in Victoria. The lake is some 1-1.5 km in length, of which 2/3 is dominated by stands of drowned timber stumps and logs. This has proven to be a haven for the powerful native fish that reside there.

Timber lake is home to lure and fly munching cod in excess of 20 kg (44lb), golden perch breaking the 6 kg (13lb) barrier. In addition to the  cod and golden perch, the stealthy and hard fighting silver perch have established a targetable population.

Early morning looking out over the open water of the lake.

What is the lake like?
